PASIGHAT, Dec 21: Anggong Society Youth Wing (ASYW) organized a voluntary Blood Donation camp yesterday on Dec-20 at the Bakin Pertin General Hospital (BPGH), Pasighat. Twenty-nine (29) units were donated to the blood bank and another twenty-five (25) donors were deferred due to shortage of time and other issues on the day.
Jt. Director Health Services, BPGH, Dr. Talung Tali and Founder Chairman of "AYANG," Smti Aini Taki Taloh were present during the blood donation camp to encourage and appreciated the humanitarian effort of the Anggong Youths. President of Anggong Society, Dr. Keni Lego and Secretary General, Kingman Komut also attended the program as an encouragement and solidarity with it’s Youth Wing.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary General Kingman Komut quoted that voluntary blood donors are saviors of mankind and the best way to express our love for our fellow human beings is to donate blood. However, it is a fact that the blood so collected cannot be kept for use for more than 30 days generally and that’s why a monthly blood donation camps would be more ideal than random blood donations by various compassionate groups.
In the course of interaction during the program, Aini Taloh of Ayang and Dr. Dilem Modi, Blood Bank Officer (BBO) proposed the idea of a calendar based monthly blood donation program to be supported through like-minded CBOs or NGOs, where each volunteer CBO or NGO will be allotted a particular month in a year to conduct blood donation camps. Aini Taloh, the pioneer of these life-saving programs in Arunachal, took the responsibility of initiating such a calendar based program.
On behalf of the Anggong Society Youth Wing, President Habu Tali and General Secretary Hujing Komut thanked all the donors and individuals who supported the blood donation camp. ASYW was especially thankful to the ever enthusiastic Dr. Dilem Modi (B.B.O) and his most dedicated and efficient team.
