PASIGHAT, April 12: Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Arunachal
Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu today flagged off the Dornier (DO-228) fixed-wing flight at Pasighat in presence of the Union Law & Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju, Civil Aviation Nakap Nalo, Health Minister (AP) Alo Libang, East Arunachal MP Tapir Gao and Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar. Soon after the inauguration, the Union Aviation Minister Scindia while congratulating the people of Arunachal Pradesh stated that the state has made aviation history with operating the light transport aircraft promoting regional connectivity in the North-East.
He informed that Alliance Air would initially flying from Dibrugarh to Pasighat and shortly would connect Tezu and Ziro and thereafter Vijayanager, Mechuka and other places.
Taking forward the mission by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to have flight connectivity
available for everyone by saying to fly in an aircraft. The minister further added that the
Government was looking forward to connecting the North-East with other parts of the region as
well as the country. Development of North-Eastern Region (NER) was strategic importance and besides, it was always been part of the nation’s growth story.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led union government has identified the NER as a priority area under UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) and under the scheme aviation ministry was enhancing inter and intra connectivity for NER.
New airports were being established and olds were getting upgraded, mentioned the minister. Moreover, keeping in view the hilly terrain, helicopter operations under the Regional Connectivity Scheme Scheme have been given focus for connectivity, the minister further mentioned. Before 2014,
there were only 9 airports and now we have 15 operational airports in NER. A Green Field airport at Hollongi, Itanagar with a budgetary allocation of Rs. 645.63 Crore was in progress would be dedicated to the people of Arunachal Pradesh on the ensuing Independence Day, he added.
Throwing some lights on the new flight service of Dornier Do-228, Scindia informed that
Alliance Air was the country’s first commercial airline to fly Indian made aircraft for civil
operation. He asserted that providing air connectivity and aviation infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh would boost local economy. In India, there are 34 Flying Training Organizations (FTOs) to train the local youths to fly and adopt pilot as career.
15 new FTOs were being established shortly out of which Tezu (AP) would get one of them. State’s Pema Khandu led government has been instrumental in designing and implementing the special aviation developmental programme for the State, stated the Minister. Chief Minister Pema Khandu on behalf of the state government and the people of Arunachal Pradesh profusely thanked the Union Government headed by Modi and the civil aviation ministry for the historic development in the state. He assured that with air connectivity getting a new boost, rural economy of the state will witness a sharp rise in the days to come.
Union Law & Justice Minister, Kiren Rijiju, highlighting the significance of the historic occasion said that the boost in air-connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh was a boon for the people of the state, providing faster communication in this hilly frontier state. The Union Minister
congratulated the people on behalf the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi adding that the thrust in road communication development was visible and more being taken up along with Air
connectivity in the state in particular and the NER as a whole.
Loksabha MP Tapir Gao termed the occasion as the outcome of tireless concerted efforts of the state Government and union Civil Aviation ministry.Also present on the occasion were MLAs Kaling Moyong, Ninong Ering, Lombo Tayeng, Kento Rina, Ojing Tasing, Rode Bui, Secretary of Civil Aviation Rajiv Bansal, Jt. Secretary Usha Padree, East Siang DC Tayi Taggu, SP Sumit Kr Jha, CMD of HAL R Madhavan and CEO of Alliance Air Aviation Ltd Vineet Sood.
